Our unique smart weather algorithm was initially developed by GreenIQ CEO, Mr. Odi Dahan, in 2013. Since then, our R&D team has continued to improve the algorithm to optimize water usage in a variety of weather, soil and vegetation conditions. The algorithm factors past, current and forecasted weather conditions into its calculations. The concept behind the algorithm is to balance water loss due to evapotranspiration (ET) with the rainfall and irrigation. We named our smart weather data algorithm WeatherIQTM.
Our algorithm is capable of compensating for inaccurate weather forecasts. If a watering cycle was skipped due to forecasted rain and rain didn’t come, the system increases the watering cycle on the next day to avoid under-watering.
In addition to rainfall, the WeatherIQTM takes into consideration many variables, such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, solar radiation.
The user programs his irrigation cycles according to the hottest season. These programs are considered as 100% of the irrigation cycle. Our weather algorithm saves water by adjusting the watering cycle duration as a function of the variables above. The GreenIQ app reports daily/weekly/monthly water savings percentages.
The GreenIQ weather algorithm has been extensively tested by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and has been granted the WaterSense label. This certification enables U.S residents who live in states with water shortages to get refunds (full or partial) when they purchase any GreenIQ Smart Garden Hub.
